About Us

Harvest Rain christian Care is the community care arm of the Rivers of Life Christian Church. Originally established in 1986 Harvest Rain has now been helping Ipswich people in times of crisis or need for more than 20 years.

Each week, dozens of people who are experiencing financial or personal difficulties for a myriad of reasons, come to Harvest Rain looking for help.

He who gives to the poor, shall lack nothing. - The BibleStaffed largely by enthusiastic volunteers, over the past five years, Harvest Rain has been able to assist approximately 6000 Ipswich families - with emergency food, clothing, help with overdue bills, or other forms of assistance.

In the weeks before Christmas, Harvest Rain assists the Queensland Times newspaper in the "QT Adopt a Family" appeal - providing generous hampers of food and Christmas goodies to more than 300 struggling Ipswich families.

In 2003 Harvest Rain Christian Care was awarded the title "Queensland Community Service Organisation of the Year" in the National Bank of Australia National Volunteer Awards.

Why do we do it? "Well, it's not for nay accolades or awards, " responds Christine, Harvest Rain Emergency Relief Welfare Co-ordinator. "We do it because it's what Jesus wants us to do. The Bible says "He who gives to the poor will lack nothing". It's all about putting God's love into action."
